• Police expand investigation of Buford man charged with stealing checks from mailboxes (wsbradio.com) — Police say a Buford resident is under expanded investigation after officers allegedly found hundreds of pieces of mail and altered checks tied to a multi-state mailbox theft scheme. Oakwood Police report surveillance began when someone spotted suspicious activity at a drive-through mailbox, and they’re urging residents to secure outgoing mail by ensuring it drops fully inside or taking it into the post office.
   

• Lake Lanier Association: Low lake level 'fairly normal' for December (accesswdun.com) — Residents around Lake Lanier, including those near Buford Dam, are being told the current lower lake level is typical for December and not a cause for alarm. Lake Lanier Association leaders say the drop mainly reflects seasonal rainfall patterns, and the Corps of Engineers is releasing only the minimum water needed to protect downstream supplies and water quality.
