📰 News we're reading

• Man accused of stealing $150K in checks, 300 pieces of mail in Georgia released on bond (wsbradio.com) — A Buford man accused of stealing large amounts of mail and checks across Georgia and other states has been released on bond in Hall County, raising concerns for local residents. Oakwood police say surveillance and a search uncovered hundreds of mail pieces and altered checks, and they’re urging people to secure outgoing mail by using interior post office drop-offs or ensuring items fall fully inside mailboxes.

• Four Hall judges disqualify themselves from planning commission injunction (accesswdun.com) — Hall County planning commissioners are trying to block dismissal hearings they say are unauthorized, and the case now involves a law firm based in Buford that investigated alleged Open Meetings Act violations. Four Hall County judges have stepped aside to avoid any appearance of bias, and the matter has been transferred to another judicial district with no hearing date yet set.
