The strong storm moved east at 15 mph over Alpharetta and was located 7 miles north of Peachtree Corners. Pea-sized hail, frequent cloud to ground lightning and 40 mph winds were possible.

Tree limbs could have sustained minor damage, and unsecured objects could have been blown.

"People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning," the NWS said in a previous special weather statement.

Scattered thunderstorms were anticipated in north and central Georgia through Tuesday evening. Georgians could face localized damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.

Then, daily scattered thunderstorms could trek through the region on Wednesday through at least Monday, according to a hazardous weather outlook.
