Storm Caused House Fire in Buford, Downed Tree on I-85
Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services responded to emergencies overnight Sunday.

The thunderstorms and lightning that rolled through Buford and Gwinnett early Sunday (May 10) had firefighters responding to several emergencies.
Accoring to a Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services news release, crews responded to a "smoldering fire" at 3500 Elinburg Cove Trail in Buford. The fire was in the walls of the house, but no major damage was reported.
Also, in responding to another call, an engine rolled up on a tree down in the roadway on I-85 near Buford Drive. The tree was blocking the road and caused a significant threat to motorists on the interstate, the release noted. A second engine was requested to assist with removing the tree.

Emergency call volume to Gwinnett Fire/ES from 3-8 a.m. totaled 105; the most (43) were for alarms activated.
A flash flood warning was in effect until 12:45 p.m. Sunday for Buford and Gwinnett.
