Weather Watch: Rain, Heavy Winds on the Way

A wind advisory goes into effect at 10 pm Tuesday night for many areas in metro Atlanta.

Rain and heavy winds are expected to hit metro Atlanta Tuesday night through Thursday morning.

A wind advisory goes into effect at 10 pm Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service, with winds gusting up to 40 mph. It will remain in effect until 1 pm Wednesday for areas along and north of a line from Carrollton to Canton to Cleveland.

The weather service also said north Georgia will get hit by a round of heavy rain beginning Wednesday. Rainfall totals are expected to be 1.5 to 2.5 inches, with some locally heavier amounts.

Conditions will be mild as high temperatures will climb to around 70 F Wednesday.

Dry weather is forecast on Friday and into the start of the weekend.

Forecasters are calling for a 100 percent chance of rain Wednesday, diminishing to a 70 percent chance Thursday morning.
