Year Later, Man Arrested For Threatening 3 People In Hall County

HALL COUNTY, GA — A Louisiana man who threatened harm to three people last year at a Hall County gas station is behind bars in the county jail, after he was arrested last weekend on Interstate 85 by Gwinnett County police officers. James David Fagan, 66, of Baton Rouge is charged with three felony counts of terroristic threats and one count of disorderly conduct, said the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The charges stem from an incident on the evening of July 1, 2018, at a gas station/convenience store at the intersection of GA 13 (Atlanta Highway) and GA 347 (Friendship Road) in southern Hall County.

Investigators with the sheriff's office determined that a man, later identified as Fagan, "walked out of the store, approached a vehicle in the fueling area and yelled, threatening to kill its occupants and rape one of them," Sheriff Gerald Couch said in a statement.

The victims, an unidentified man, woman and teenage girl, had no ties to Fagan. He then left the gas station in a car, Couch said.

He added that the sheriff's office received a tip identifying Fagan when it posted images of him on social media that were captured on the gas station's surveillance cameras.

The office obtained warrants for Fagan's arrest about a year ago, but he wasn't seen in the area again until the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 15, when an off-duty deputy spotted him at a gas station in Gwinnett County.

The deputy called 911, and the Gwinnett County police responded and pulled over Fagan’s vehicle on northbound I-85 near mile marker 119, the sheriff's office said.

The officers arrested Fagan without incident and took him to the Gwinnett County Jail in Lawrenceville. On Monday, Hall County deputies picked up Fagan and took him to the county jail in Gainesville, where he's being held without bond.

The sheriff's office said the case remains under investigation.
