4 Injured In Head-On Crash In Canton
A garbage truck collided with a Cherokee Area Transportation System bus Tuesday morning on Bells Ferry Road at the Little River bridge.
CANTON, GA — Four people were injured Tuesday morning in a head-on collision involving a garbage truck and a Cherokee Area Transportation System bus on Bells Ferry Road in Canton.
The county-owned bus was traveling northbound on the road at the Little River bridge when the garbage truck, which was going southbound, veered over the center line and struck the bus head-on, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said.
Deana Harber, 45, of Woodstock, the driver of the bus, was transported to Northside Hospital Cherokee for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Woodstock resident Stewart Sutton, 58, the sole passenger on the bus, was also taken to Northside Cherokee for treatment of his injuries.

Emerson residents Dwight Holcomb, 49, the driver of the garbage truck, and passenger Stephanie Bass, 37, both suffered minor injuries, but were not taken by ambulance to the hospital. While the accident remains under investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit, the agency notes evidence at the scene indicates Holcomb swerved into the northbound lane to avoid hitting a vehicle that slowed down in front of the garbage truck.
Holcomb was cited for failure to maintain lane, the Sheriff's Office said.
