Fiery Crash Kills Man After Car Slams Into Tree In Cherokee

A man's car burst into flames after leaving the roadway and hitting a tree, Cherokee County authorities say.

BALL GROUND, GA — A man is dead after authorities say his car left the roadway and hit a tree Thursday night at Conns Creek Road near Ball Ground.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on Friday said the fiery crash happened around 10:45 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a Hyundai consumed with flames, authorities said.

It is unknown why the car left the roadway, but it crossed into the opposite lane before hitting the tree, authorities said.

The man was found dead inside the car, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working to confirm his identity, authorities said.

Cherokee authorities are investigating the cause of the fatal crash, they said.
