Sports have a way of teaching invaluable life lessons — building character, fostering teamwork and strengthening the bonds within a community. In the Canton-Sixes area, these values have shaped some truly remarkable athletes from different eras, whose accomplishments continue to inspire.

Patch has teamed up with T-Mobile to spotlight five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting mark on our community. While this list is just a snapshot, there are countless others who have helped shape the rich sports culture in our area.


1. John Hannah (Football)

Canton native John Hannah is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history. He played his entire professional career with the New England Patriots from 1973 to 1985, earning nine Pro Bowl selections and being named to the NFL's 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time Teams. Hannah's dominance on the field led to his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991, making him a celebrated figure in Canton's sports history.

2. Montrell Washington (Football)

Montrell Washington, also hailing from Canton, is a professional football player who has made significant strides in his career. After a standout tenure at Cherokee High School, he played college football at Samford University. In the 2022 NFL Draft, Washington was selected by the Denver Broncos as the 162nd overall pick. Today, he continues to showcase his talents as the Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver.


3. Lauren Wallin (Cross Country)

Canton's Lauren Wallin is a dedicated cross-country runner who represented the University of Georgia. Standing at 5'8", she joined the team as a freshman after graduating from Creekview High School. At the high school level, she also showcased her talents in swimming and tennis.

4. Savannah Casey (Basketball)

Savannah Casey, hailing from Canton, is a talented basketball player who played as a forward for Georgia College. Standing at 6'3", she joined the team as a freshman after graduating from Woodstock High School. Casey's presence on the court has been a significant contribution to her team's performance.


5. Brittain Brown (Football)

Brittain Brown, also from Canton, has showcased his talents on the football field as a running back. He began his high school career at Cherokee High School before playing college football at Duke University and later transferring to UCLA. In the 2022 NFL Draft, Brown was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 250th overall pick. In September 2024, he was signed to the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad.
