- Cherokee County residents recently raised more than $5,000 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, an organization committed to providing fire safety education and assisting burn survivors with recovery. The group delivered the funds to the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Station 7 on Tuesday. Ten percent of the total funds raised will be used to help provide smoke alarms to households in need in Cherokee County. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
- The YMCA of Cherokee County kicked off the 5th Annual YMCA Days of Service event on Sep. 9. The annual event brought together more than 800 community volunteers to complete a total of 23 service projects supporting local YMCAs, nonprofits, and community partners throughout the Atlanta metro area. - The Funk Heritage Center at nearby Reinhardt University has announced its participation in the Smithsonian magazine’s 18th annual Museum Day this Saturday, Sep. 17. Guests who download a branded ticket will receive free access to the Funk Heritage Center, including the museum's Appalachian settlement exhibit.
