Bond Denied For Woman Accused Of Killing Disabled Husband
Betty Sue Parton is charged in connection to the death of her husband, David, who suffered from Parkinson's Disease.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County woman charged in connection to the death of her disabled husband will remain behind bars for the time being. That's because a Magistrate Court on Thursday denied bond to Betty Sue Parton, who stands accused of killing David Arthur Parton.
Parton, 74, of a Ball Ground address, was charged this week by Cherokee Sheriff's Office investigators with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and elder abuse. Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jay Baker said Parton will now have to petition a Superior Court judge for a bond hearing.
Sheriff's deputies on April 1 responded to a person down call at a home in the 3100 block of Ball Ground Road. They arrived to find David Parton, 76, dead inside the house. Betty Sue Parton told deputies that her husband fell and struck his head, Baker previously told Patch.

Parton did have injuries that were consistent with a fall, and the initial cause of death was listed as unknown. However, Parton's body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy. The medical examiner in July reached out to sheriff's office detectives, and informed investigators that Parton's death allegedly occurred under suspicious circumstances.
On Parton's autopsy report, the medical examiner listed the man's manner of death as homicide and the cause of death as blunt force trauma, the sheriff's office added. A search warrant was executed in September at the Parton home, and detectives subsequently issued arrest warrants for Betty Sue Parton. She was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 9 at her home and was taken into custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
