Here are the top five stories in and around Canton-Sixes today:

  1. Cherokee County commissioners will consider a request for a build-to-rent community with 51 homes. The applicant, Elmington Residential, LLC, proposed 25 townhomes and 26 single-family homes all owned and operating under their company. In addition, commissioners will consider requests for zoning modifications, accept a subgrant agreement, and consider purchase approvals for pickup trucks. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
  2. Two members of a Florida family died in a car crash this weekend after attending a Georgia baseball tournament. The car swerved off Yellow Creek Road and struck a tree, according to the news station, killing the two victims. An 11-year-old boy and two other adults were taken to the hospital with injuries; updates pending. (Canton-Sixes Patch)

  4. Japanese rock band One OK Rock has revealed their North American tour with You Me At Six and Fame on Fire for Fall 2022. The tour kicks off on Sept. 19 in Austin, Texas, and will make its way to Atlanta on Sept. 24 at Tabernacle. Pre-sale tickets are available for purchase, and public on-sale for tickets will open on June 24 at 10 a.m. on the band's website. (Loudwire)
  5. An Atlanta-area couple has been sentenced to federal prison for carjacking, bank robbery, drug trafficking, and a weapons crime spree. Quantavious Cedron Arnold and Ericka Brewster both had criminal histories and were serving multiple terms of state probation when they committed their federal crimes. The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the Atlanta Police Department, DeKalb County Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
