- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is looking for a red and black 2012 Honda CBR 250 motorcycle. The bike was reported missing from Rope Mill Road in Woodstock sometime between April 4 and April 9 and is now officially listed as stolen with the Georgia Crime Information Center and National Crime Information Center (GCIC/NCIC). The motorcycle's Georgia tag is WZA 718. If you have any information, please call the Sheriff's Office at 678-493-4200 or 9-1-1. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
- The Jones Building in Downtown Canton has been around since 1879, when it was a general goods store, and the building will continue on after this fall, gussied up and with Thrive Coworking at the helm. Thrive leases office space as part of the coworking business model, non-related persons working together in one space, saving overhead and eliminating the need for a brick and mortar location for smaller companies. Thrive will be the main tenant, occupying 19,000 square feet, and will be located in the top floor and half of the ground floor. They plan to be leasing around 40 offices and will also offer meeting and event rooms large enough to hold upwards of 50 people. Tenants other than Thrive will have options on the ground level and lowest level. Renovations to date include a roof replacement and window and façade cleaning, repair and replacement. - Updates to Canton's urban redevelopment plan are being discussed, with the ultimate goal of helping with the Canton Housing Authority's application for state housing tax credits. The proposed updates to the Central Canton Urban Redevelopment Plan were heard by the Canton City Council on Thursday, and if passed will be the first updates made since the plan's 2014 inception. The Housing Authority is looking to receive 9% in tax credit funding through the HOME Rental Housing Loan and Housing Tax Credit programs, to be used in part to fund the Oakside redevelopment project. The Oakside project has been boosted by the receipt of federal funding to the tune of $500,000, which will mean the demolition of the existing 45 homes and construction 75 new homes, or adding 30 homes to the existing 45 on the undeveloped portion of the land.
