Here are the top five stories today in Canton-Sixes:
- A Canton man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for sex crimes against a child. Chief Superior Court Judge Ellen McElyea sentenced Johnathan Collins, 39, in court this week, after he was found guilty of 13 charges, including rape, molestation, and cruelty to children. The crimes in question took place in 2018 and were committed against a child who was under 10 years old at the time. "With this guilty verdict, this child no longer has to live in fear," said District Attorney Shannon Wallace. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- The pool isn't the only place to beat the heat this summer! Georgia has numerous swimming holes to help the community cool off while enjoying beautiful natural views. Access Atlanta listed two Canton spots, Blankets Creek and Gober Beach, on its list of the top eight swimming holes in the state. (Access Atlanta)
- Father's Day is coming up on Jun. 19, and there are plenty of local places where Dad can get some "freebies" to celebrate his day! One such place is Cherokee Aquatic Centerβs Oasis Pool, which is offering free admission to fathers who are accompanied by a paying child guest.
