Canton PD, GBI Offers Reward To Help Solve Arson Case

The fire, which was caused by a Molotov cocktail, was reported in December 2017 at the state probation office in Canton.

CANTON, GA — The Canton Police Department is joining forces with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to generate new information in an arson case reported more than a year ago at a state probation office.

Both agencies are seeking the public's help in obtaining information about the fire reported around 5 a.m. Dec. 4, 2017, at the Georgia Department of Community Supervision Office at 100 Medical Lane in Canton.

The GBI was originally requested by the Canton Police Department to assist in the investigation of an arson. Investigators note the fire, which was caused by a Molotov cocktail, was set in the front lobby area of the office, and was discovered by personnel arriving for work.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this arson.
