  1. On Thursday, Sep. 1, the Canton City Council will hold a public hearing. An applicant has requested to build a 181-unit townhome development in Riverstone. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News)

The Georgia Downtown Association recognized the city of Canton and The Mill on Etowah, located at 225 Reformation Parkway in Canton, for the adaptive reuse development of the historic 120-year-old former Canton Cotton Mill.   3. Yesterday, Aug. 30, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that over $62 million in awards would be distributed from the American Rescue Plan and the State Fiscal Recovery Fund to housing initiatives across Georgia, including Paladin, Inc. in Cherokee County. The awards will be used to fight homelessness and housing insecurity which was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. (The Atlanta Voice)
