- Canton officials announced a recycling event from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 8. Residents can recycle electronics and other items at Peace + Love + Recycle at the Canton Public Works Collection Site. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News)
- An 18-year-old Canton teenager, Nasheem Davis, was arrested on Thursday, Sep. 22. Police say Davis held two women at gunpoint while he robbed them. Davis was charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two counts of aggravated assault. - Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Herschel Walker brought his Senate campaign to Canton on Tuesday, Sep. 26. He teamed up with Riley Gaines, a former University of Kentucky swimmer, who is famous for her opposition to the NCAA's transgender policies. - The Dixie Drive fire was extinguished by Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and no injuries were reported. The large fire involved tires at a recycling facility off of Dixie Drive near Highway 92 in unincorporated Cherokee County. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
