Cherokee Chamber Names Volunteer Of The Quarter
Joan McFather, a retired Cherokee County educator, was recognized for the fourth quarter of 2018.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce has named Joan McFather, a longtime Chamber member and community volunteer, the Chairman's Council Volunteer of the Quarter for fourth quarter 2018.
McFather, a retired educator, was recognized during the Chamber's December Good Morning Cherokee networking event. McFather taught for 30 years at Cherokee High School before retiring in 2000. She was named the First Citizen of Cherokee County in 2014.
While at Cherokee, McFather helped implement the school's Honor's Program, designed and implemented its Advanced Placement program, taught AP English and honor's English, advised several student groups and directed main stage and one-act competition plays and musicals.

Members of the Chairman’s Council are accepted by invitation only from the Chamber's board chair. The Chairman’s Council members are invited to attend ribbon cuttings, ground breaking ceremonies and other Chamber-related events.
"Joan is a committed volunteer who gives 100% to the Chamber and its programs," said Julianne Rivera, Chamber board chair and Realtor with Sold by Julianne - Keller Williams Atlanta North.
