CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A Cherokee County senior activity center has temporarily closed after several people tested positive for COVID-19, WSB-TV reported.
The facility’s director told the news station Thursday that they’ve seen a rapid rise in cases over the last 24 hours at Cherokee County Senior Services, 1001 Univeter Road. They went from one case to 10, Senior Service Director Tim Morris told WSB-TV. He said the senior center hopes to reopen later this month.
Ashley Deverell, the infectious disease director of the Northeast Georgia Health District, told WSB that more than 720 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Cherokee County in the past two weeks.
