🌱 Children’s Healthcare Center Reopens + Cherokee Scholars 5K Dates

Here are the top five stories in and around Canton-Sixes today:
- After more than two years, the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta urgent care center in Canton will open to the public as of September 7. According to a representative of the healthcare center, they originally closed back in April 2020 due to a low patient volume during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. With demand on the rise once again, the center has decided to reopen and will offer walk-in hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday to Sunday. - It’s never too early to start thinking about Spooky Season. Registration for the much-anticipated Woodstock Scarecrow Invasion opens on September 1st at 10 a.m. at the Woodstock Visitors Center, about 15 minutes outside of Canton. You must register in person. The public will vote on their favorite scarecrows at the event. Proceeds will be donated to INSeason and help further the beautification of Woodstock.
- The dates for the 8th annual Cherokee Scholars 5K Run/Walk have been announced! On Saturday, October 29 at 8 a.m., you can join runners or walkers at Cannon Park in Downtown Canton for the event. Those who register before October 18 will receive a T-shirt, race bib, and a beverage ticket. Proceeds benefit the Reinhardt Cherokee Scholars program, which provides scholarships for students from Cherokee County. (Reinhardt University)
- Want to dedicate your career to serving the community? The City of Canton is currently hiring for multiple full-time positions. - The Cherokee County Animal Shelter calls on residents for help after receiving notice that their supplier of pine pellet litter/bedding is back-ordered. The pine pellets they use help keep litter boxes fresher, reduce dust in cages, and overall contribute to the health of the cats.
