Here are the top four stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. Cherokee Recreation & Parks has some of the most unique and fun classes, events and activities around. If you've ever thought about giving log rolling a shot, the department even has KeyLog Logrolling classes that will teach the sport to those ages 6 and up. The first class will be happening on April 4, registration for the class closes out tonight at 9 p.m. The next class is on April 6, and registration for that one closes on April 5 at 9 p.m. Both classes will meet at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center, located at 1200 WellStar Way. If you have any questions, you can contact Amanda Lane at aclane@cherokeega.com. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
  2. Another great event coming out of Recreation & Parks, the EGGS-traordinary Spring Extravaganza is happening on April 8. There will be an egg hunt for ages 0 - 3 outside at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center, and there are several time slots for the Underwater Egg Hunt for ages 4 - 12. The Sensory Friendly Egg Hunt will be taking place first, starting at 12:45 p.m., and it's for all ages. On top of all the egg hunting fun, there will also be inflatables, face painting, crafts, prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny. You can sign up at the link, registration for the event will close on April 7 at 5 p.m. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
  3. If you'd like to squeeze in some more egg hunting this season, it's time for the Northside Hospital Foundation Easter Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt. The event is today and will run from 1 - 3 p.m. at Etowah River Park, located at 600 Brown Industrial Parkway. There will be a petting zoo, carnival games, Easter egg hunts, snacks, music and more. The activities, snacks and pictures with the Easter Bunny are free, and there are souvenir t-shirts available for $10 each. Monetary donations can be made online or in-person at the event and those made online during registration will benefit the Special Care Nursery babies at Northside Hospital-Cherokee. Eventgoers are encouraged to bring donations of diapers, wipes and baby food for MUST Ministries in Cherokee. There will be donation bins at the event, but please no glass bottles or jars. Please see the listing for egg hunt times, they are grouped by age. (Canton GA Events)
  4. This is the last week to participate in the "Some Bunny Special" donation drive. It's a wonderful way for us to help those less fortunate celebrate Easter this year. To donate, you can bring fully stocked Easter baskets, homemade or purchased, over to one of three collection locations until April 7. Donation locations are the Aquatic Center at 1200 WellStar Way in Canton, The Buzz at 7345 Cumming Highway in Canton and the WREC at 7545 Main Street, Building 200 in Woodstock. You can see some great basket content suggestions at the link. (Cherokee County Communications Division)
