Fire Destroys Barn In Cherokee County
The fire was reported Thursday afternoon in the Hickory Flat community.
CANTON, GA — A fire destroyed a barn Thursday afternoon in Cherokee County. Firefighters with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. Dec. 6 to the call in the 400 block of Thomas Drive, which is located off Lower Union Hill Road in the Hickory Flat communities.
Cherokee County 911 dispatchers received a call from a person stating the barn was on fire and that "they could see smoke and flames."
The caller also said the wood line was close to where the fire was unleashing its wrath on to the barn. Firefighters arrived to report the barn was fully involved. While they were able to get the fire under control, firefighters at the scene indicated the barn and its contents were a total loss.

Cherokee County Fire Investigator Cheri Collett said the fire is undetermined at this time, as the investigation remains active. Traffic on Thomas Drive was redirected until the fire operation was complete. No injuries were reported.
