Funeral On Tuesday For Man Killed In Workplace Accident

Tabor Hayes, 20, died Thursday in a workplace accident in Canton.

CANTON, GA — The funeral service for the Canton man who died last week in a workplace accident will be held Tuesday. Sept. 18. Friends and family will say goodbye to Tabor Daniel Hayes, 20, at 7 p.m. in the chapel at South Canton Funeral Home.

Hayes's family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a call of a person injured around 8 a.m. Thursday Sept. 13 at East Gate Pallet.

Officials arrived at the site at 150 Bobo Trail near Holly Springs to discover Hayes, an employee, had been "involved in what appears to be a workplace accident involving a table saw," said sheriff's office spokesperson Jay Baker.

Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene. While CSO detectives are investigating the incident, no foul play is suspected, Baker added.

According to his obituary, Hayes is survived by parents, Robert and Melissa Defillipo; brothers, Nathaniel McKitrick and Sean McKitrick; sister, Mya Defillipo; stepsister, Destinee Defillipo; grandparents, Joanne Brockum, Karen McKitrick, Robert and Sue Defillipo, John and Juanita Grey; great-grandparents, Richard and Betty Horsey, Sr., Daniel Johnson, Sr. and Fran Schmidlin; and other family members and friends.

Hayes was preceded in death by his biological father, Sean McKitrick. You can leave your condolences for the family on the funeral home's website.
