Here are the top five stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. The Georgia Unite Conference will be held at the Cherokee Conference Center at The Bluffs on Saturday. The conference will be led by Mallory Staples, the new Executive Director of the Georgia Freedom Caucus. There will be a lot of high-profile conservative leaders in attendance such as Tom Homan and Katie Hopkins. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
  2. The Cherokee County Aquatic Center in Canton will be hosting Parent's Night Out on Oct. 14. The event is free to attend and is meant for residents five years or older. Parent's Night Out is between 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (Cherokee County)
  3. The Cherokee County Library Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Hickory Flat Public Library. As always, this library board meeting will be open to the public. Residents will have a chance to speak at the end of the regular business session if the Chairman recognizes the individual. The meeting will start at 4:00 p.m. (Sequoyah Regional Library System)
  4. The City of Canton has entered the new fiscal year. Oct. 1 is the official start date of Canton's fiscal year. Canton Mayor Bill Grant reports that the city is entering into the new fiscal year in a healthy position with exciting projects planned for 2023. The city will be hosting its fall Council retreat next month to plan for future projects. (City of Canton)
  5. The next Canton City Council Work Session is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6:00 p.m. The Canton City Council's regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m. (City of Canton)
