Georgia Weekend Weather: Shower, Storm Threat Daily

Afternoon storms are filling the forecast for the weekend, otherwise partly sunny. Here's the latest forecast:

ATLANTA, Ga. — We'll have partly sunny skies this weekend (terrific!), but with an ever-present threat of afternoon storms (terrible!).

The best chance for storms is Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A few storms could become severe, mainly along the Interstate 20 corridor. The main threat is damaging wind gusts.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible through Wednesday across the region.

"While isolated severe (storms) cannot be ruled out, widespread organized severe weather is not expected," according to a weather service statement.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 90-degree range, moving slightly higher as we get into the workweek.

Here's the latest forecast from the weather service.

Friday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Southwest wind around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.
