  1. It's Ezra's Day at Buffalo's Café, and a portion of all dine-in and take-out orders today will go to help Woodstock neighbor Ezra King and family through his continued battle against cancer. Ezra, 6, was recently accepted into treatment out of state, and the funds raised today will help with their ongoing travel and mounting bills. Let's head over to the restaurant and support the family. The participating Buffalo's Café restaurants are at 12035 Highway 92 in Woodstock and 1625 Ballground Highway in Canton. (Woodstock Public Safety Foundation via Facebook and Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. It's getting closer to Taste of Canton! On April 27, the best Canton restaurants will be offering their best bites at The Mill on Etowah. You'll purchase food tickets at the event and exchange them for food as you go through the restaurants. Entry is free, and there will also be live music and a cash bar for cocktails, wine and beer. It's rain or shine, and purchases of sodas, water, tea and lemonade will benefit local 501c3 organizations. (The Mill on Etowah via Facebook)
  3. Benefitting both local film industry pathway students in the school district and local film industry professionals, the Cherokee Film Summit will be held at the YANMAR/EVO Center on March 16. The summit will run from 5 - 9 p.m. and will feature opportunities for business, film and local creative talent to mingle and create networking connections. There will be many panelists at the event, including writers, producers, visual effects supervisors, editors and more. You can grab your tickets and read more about the Cherokee Film Summit here. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News and Free: Cherokee Office of Economic Development)
  4. Important deadlines are coming up this and next week for School Choice Month in the Cherokee County School District (CCSD). If you're looking to switch your child's school, the deadline is tomorrow to put your request in for the 2023-24 school year. You can reassign to and from any CCSD school with space available, including STEM, STEAM and Fine Arts Academies, online high school and i-Grad Virtual Academy. The standard annual K - 12th grade, new student enrollment will start on March 7. The Pre-K lottery will open later in March, running from March 20 - 31.
