CANTON, GA — A Gainesville man has been charged with a slew of offenses following a high-speed chase that ended with a collision late Saturday in Cherokee County.

A deputy with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office observed a Ford Mustang traveling northbound on Interstate 575 at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour around 9 p.m. Sept. 29. Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jay Baker said the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over.

The chase continued and the driver exited at the S.R. 20/Cumming Highway interchange and continued to travel eastbound. Baker said the vehicle was on Cumming Highway just east of Brooke Park Drive near Canton Marketplace when the driver, identified as Ethan Brock Vance, 24, lost control of the Mustang and crashed the vehicle.
