- If you're looking to work with Cherokee County and contribute to the community at large, this is the time to apply. Cherokee County is currently hiring for a variety of positions, including aerobics instructor, bus driver, and Certified Deputy Sheriff. - Students attending historically Black colleges and universities will now receive opportunities and support from the U.S. Department of State. The department is offering scholarships and financial support to students at Black colleges across the country - and with so many historically Black universities throughout the state of Georgia, it looks to be a major boost to various educational institutions. Students attending or interested in attending one of the 10 Georgia universities that qualify for these benefits can check out the website to learn more. (Department of State)
- Residents of Canton-Sixes looking for jobs have an assortment of different employment opportunities to explore right now, as numerous businesses are hiring. Some of the companies that are looking for new employees include Dairy Queen, Forsythe County Schools, and The Meadowbrook Restaurant Company. - The State Department of Revenue has announced that expecting parents can now list their fetus as a dependent. Any taxpayer in Georgia who is pregnant between Jul. 20 and Dec. 31 of this year can use the embryo to get a tax deduction. Opponents of the decision argue that this decision could have far-reaching effects on Constitutional rights. There has been no official word on how much of a tax exemption future parents can expect, or what impact this will have on Georgia state taxes. (Now Habersham)
- Police are asking for help in locating a missing 24-year-old from Cherokee County. Anya Love FangLi Bailey left her home in the Bridgemill subdivision near Bells Ferry and Sixes Road on Sunday night and has not been heard from since. Bailey was last seen on foot leaving the area. Authorities are concerned that Bailey may be in danger, and are asking anyone with any information to come forward. (FOX5 Atlanta)
