  1. A Canton man has been arrested after what officials described as "the largest fentanyl seizure ever in White County." 34-year-old Joshua McLaughlin is one of two suspected fentanyl traffickers to be arrested in the bust. Drug agents say they also confiscated cocaine and methamphetamines at the scene. (WGAU)
  2. The 7th Annual Woodstock Public Safety Foundation Golf Tournament is scheduled to take place next Thursday, Oct. 6, at Bridge Mill Athletic Club in Canton. The charitable golf tournament will help raise funds for the 6-year-old son of a Woodstock police officer who is currently battling cancer. All of the proceeds from the tournament will go directly toward helping the family with everyday bills, medical bills, and long-distance travel for medical treatment. (Valdosta Daily Times)
  3. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man accused of theft by deception after he cashed a $3,200 check in 2019 for services he never completed. Authorities say 58-year-old Terry Scott Murphy of Falkville, AL agreed to rebuild a playground at a daycare near Acworth in exchange for the money but never completed the work. Murphy was recently arrested in Florida and extradited to Cherokee County, where he was booked on Sep. 28. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
  4. Don't forget to stop by The Mill on Etowah next Saturday, Oct. 8, for Tailgate With A Firefighter! Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Safe Kids Cherokee County are partnering to host this family-friendly event, featuring fire trucks, face painting, and a Dress Like a Firefighter contest. The festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. and will run until 5:00 p.m. (Cherokee County, Georgia via Facebook)
  5. The Canton Farmers Market takes place tomorrow, Oct. 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There are only three weeks left of the summer market season, and this week marks the last time the MSU Extension Master Gardeners will be on site this year.
