Man Accused Of Pointing Gun During Fight At McDonald's
A Cherokee County grand jury this week indicted Tyrell Maleek Corley in connection to the altercation reported in June.

CANTON, GA — A Cherokee County grand jury has indicted a Canton resident on charges related to an altercation involving a firearm outside a McDonald's restaurant in June.
Tyrell Maleek Corley was indicted on two counts of tampering with evidence and one count each of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a schedule IV substance with intent to distribute, crossing guard lines with drugs and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Corley, along with Savannah Leann Howell, were arrested June 6 by Canton police following a fight involving a firearm outside McDonald's at 3240 Ridge Road. Officers were dispatched to the fast food joint following a 9-1-1 call and began to piece together what happened.

Officers encountered a young woman, who fled the scene earlier and "locked herself in the restroom of a gas station across the street from the incident location," the Canton Police Department previously said. After speaking with the woman, later identified as Howell, officers found a stolen gun and marijuana they suspected was packaged for distribution.
Officers initially made contact with a man who was involved in the altercation. While they identified him, they did not have enough information at the time to detain him at the scene of the fight. However, Canton police said the woman, who was in possession of the stolen firearm and narcotics, told officers her the man allegedly gave her the items and "asked her to get rid of them before she fled the area," the agency said.

At that moment, a car pulled up to the scene and officers made contact with the person who was a passenger, later identified as Corley. Howell and Corley both were detained and transported to the Canton Police Department for questioning by detectives. They were subsequently arrested and charged following the interviews.
According to the indictment, Corley, who was 21 at the time of the arrest, is accused of pointing a firearm at another individual during the confrontation. As of Dec. 12, Howell has not been indicted by a grand jury on charges related to the June incident.
