- There are only two more chances this year to participate in Unwind Wednesdays with the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Department. This free event, featuring food trucks, live music, and more, takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from April through October. Stop by Cherokee Veterans Park next Wednesday, Sep. 7, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. to participate. (Cherokee County, Georgia via Facebook)
- The City of Canton is considering turning a property on Laurel Canyon Village Circle into affordable housing. The city-owned property was initially purchased in 2005 for use as a fire station, but findings from a recent housing needs assessment inspired city officials to use the space to help address housing shortages in the community. Canton residents with questions about the study and plan can provide public input at city council meetings, as well as email or call city staff. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
