Here are the top five stories in Canton and Sixes today:

  1. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office shared a photo of a man suspected of breaking and entering a vehicle. The suspect is wearing a camouflage baseball hat, gray T-shirt, and blue jeans. The deputies also shared a photo of a motorcycle believed to belong to the suspect. Officials ask anyone with information to call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division at 770-928-0235. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. On Saturday, Sep. 17, at around 7:00 a.m., a white Chevy pickup involved in a high-speed chase entered Cherokee County and Cherokee County authorities joined the chase. The driver of the Chevy had three felony warrants out for his arrest and led authorities down County Roads 16, 22, 155 and 472, Highway 9, Williams Street, the Chestnut Bypass, and other areas. As of Sep. 18, there was no other information on the outcome of the chase. (We Is Radio)
  3. Georgia's unemployment rate continues to decrease, dropping from 2.9 percent in June to 2.8 percent in July. Mark Butler, Georgia's commissioner of labor, said, "Georgia's jobs numbers ... reinforce the state's position as one of the nation's best places to find employment."   4. On Sep. 15, Brenda McEwing, a Canton resident, spoke at the Martin County Historical Society annual meeting at the Red Rock Center for the Arts. McEwing, who served in the military for 23 years, is active in the Lakota Women Warriors color guard and founded the nonprofit First Nations Women Warriors.
