  1. A missing 16-year-old male has prompted the Cherokee Sheriff's Office to ask the public for help. Nathan Palmer was last seen on May 21 around Bells Ferry and Butterworth roads. The missing teen is described as 5-foot-7 inches and 145 pounds with brown eyes and hair. If you have seen Palmer or have information regarding his location, please contact the sheriff at 770-928-0239 or 911. You can reference Case Number SO23-007085.   2. Unwind Wednesdays is back after last month's weather-related cancellation, and this Wednesday will bring us "Yoga In The Park" with Michel Delifer from Ember Hot Yoga in Downtown Woodstock. The free, family-friendly event will feature food trucks, vendors, music and much more. The event is held at Cherokee Veterans Park in Canton, bring your chairs and blankets to get comfortable during the evening. The next Unwind Wednesday will be "Pup Stars Dog Show" on June 28.   3. The Cherokee County Master Gardeners are holding its Spring Plant Sale this Saturday, from 9 a.m.-noon. The sale is open to the public and will feature gorgeous plants, including sun and shade perennials, bushes and trees. Members of the Cherokee County Master Gardeners will be there to help you choose the perfect plants.   4. The Canton Police Department has opened up registration for its Teen Police Academy. The youth academy will give students a better understanding of the department through a CPR/First Aid certification class and segments on the use of force, active shooter response, duty equipment, criminal investigations and much more. The classes will take place from June 28-30 at the Canton Police Department at 151 Elizabeth St. The deadline for registration is June 16, and the classes are for kids aged 13-18.   5. The request to build a gas station with a convenience store was denied by the Canton City Council last week. The 1.42-acre plot along Fate Conn Road would have been rezoned from agricultural to general commercial, and the proposed usage has been spoken out against by residents near the land. Residents also voiced the opinion that the convenience store would cause a danger to residents and the environment and requested the land remain agricultural.   • There is a Red Cross blood drive in Hickory Flat today, hosted by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office (CSO). The drive will be held in the CSO Hickory Flat Community Room, located at 7675 Vaughn Road. Everyone that donates will receive an exclusive Red Cross beach towel, while supplies last. You can schedule an appointment online here, use the code "CSOHICKORY" to find the drive.   • Coffee With A Cop is happening this Friday at Whitetail Coffee Company, located at 225 Reformation Brewery. The informal meet and greet starts at 9 a.m., enjoy some great coffee and a chat with members of the Canton PD. (Canton PD via Facebook)
  • The Lolek's Storytellers Theatre Company is hosting an escape room-style puzzle game from May 26 to 29 at the Historic Canton Theatre. You'll be tasked with saving the theater by finding a missing deed through the completion of puzzle, clue and lockbox games. The event, "Escape Room: Save the Canton Theatre - A Live Mystery Puzzle Game," will raise funds for Lolek's Storytellers and would be a great time for families and friends. Both beginner and advanced games are being offered, and group discounts are available for larger gatherings, parties and corporate events. (Canton Events)

  • Cherokee Recreation & Parks
    • Tuesday: Community Yoga - The free class is open to all fitness levels and takes place every Monday morning and Tuesday evening. Please bring your mat to the class at The WREC, 7545 Main St., Building 200 in Woodstock. The current session ends on May 29, and the fall session starts on Aug. 7. (5:30 - 6:30 p.m.)
    • Friday: Spring Into Summer Fest Talent Show - Therapeutic Recreation is holding the event, and you can expect a ton of talent, raffle prizes, food trucks, crafts, a magician and dance party, a singalong and games at The Buzz, 7345 Cumming Highway. (5 - 8 p.m.)

    • Friday-Monday: Escape Room, Save the Canton Theatre, A Live Mystery Puzzle Game - An escape room-style puzzle game at the Historic Canton Theatre.
