Sequoyah Students Earn Honors at International Conference
Hannah Palmer & Sydney Neubert won the 'Award of Excellence' for reaching all standards of performance in the student marketing association.

From Cherokee Co. School District: Hanna Palmer, for Apparel & Accessories Marketing, and Sydney Neubert, for Hotel & Lodging Management, each won the “Award of Excellence” for achieving all standards of performance at the international level of the student marketing association competition.
During the school year, approximately half of DECA’s more than 215,000 student members take part in the organization’s competitive events program, allowing them to compete for local and regional titles. The competitions are designed to simulate real-life business scenarios and test students’ academic understanding and skills development. The top state and provincial winners put their talents to the test during the program’s final round of competition in Anaheim, where more than 19,000 students vied for international honors. Teacher Kari Palmer serves as DECA advisor for Sequoyah HS.
