Sheriff's Office Conducts Sex Offender Residency Checks
The Cherokee Sheriff's Office said it performs this verification at least twice a year for all non-incarcerated registered sex offenders.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee Sheriff's Office teamed up with personnel from the Georgia Department of Community Supervision this week to carry out residency checks for registered sex offenders in the county.
The operation was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 31. Of the 212 non-incarcerated sex offenders residing in Cherokee County, officers focused on the 102 sex offenders who are currently on probation or parole during Wednesday's detail.
All 102 sex offenders were accounted for and were where they were supposed to be, the agency said.

The sheriff’s office in each county is required by law to confirm the residence of each sex offender at least once a year. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office confirms the residence of sex offenders living in Cherokee County at least two times a year.
