Here are the top four stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. Gunfire erupted in a Canton neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, and two people were reported injured in the incident. There were multiple witnesses to the event, and children were rushed inside to safety by neighbors that heard the "rapid gunfire." The area of Oak Side Drive was flooded with officers, and K-9 and drones were deployed in the hunt for the shooter. The condition of the victims is unknown at this time, but the suspect is in custody as of this evening. (Free: Fox 5 Atlanta and Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
  2. Parents in Cherokee County will have the opportunity to have their children's car seats inspected by a professional through Safe Kids Cherokee County. The free event will be held at Cherokee Veterans Park, at 7345 Cumming Highway in Canton, from 1 - 4 p.m. on March 24. The organization will also be teaching caregivers how to install a car seat or booster seat correctly.   3. Cherokee County Senior Services is accepting book donations for their "A Side of Books" program. If you'd like to donate, the organization is especially in need of large print and Agatha Christie books. You can drop off your donation at Cherokee County Senior Services, 1001 Univeter Road in Canton, during their usual business hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.   4. If you have a young entrepreneur in your family with a unique product or service, Kid Biz Expo has lots to offer you and your child! The expo puts child vendors in the forefront through festivals filled with opportunities to sell their goods, practice their sales skills and hone their business acumen, and the organization also offers workshops to help build the youngsters up. Coming up on March 5, they're holding a workshop to help fine-tune your child's sales pitch and "Become a Sales Pro." Please bring a sample of the product if you have one. You can register here for the workshop, it will be held at The Innovation Spot, 110 Arnold Mill Park, Suite 400 in Woodstock, from 3 - 4:30 p.m. There's another workshop on March 26 in Alpharetta if you miss this one.   • The Lorax RepTouR and More with Woodstock Arts: for all ages, though children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Enjoy a performance by RepTouR and build your own story with "Story Builders" during the performance at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library, 116 Brown Industrial Parkway in Canton. (10:30 a.m. - noon)
  • Crafters' Club: adults of Cherokee County, do you crochet, knit, embroider or craft? You can take your current piece over to the library today for some socializing while you work on your craft at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library. (3 - 5 p.m.)
  • Annual Lenten Friday Fish Fry: head over to St. Clement's Episcopal Church for their fish fry every Friday through March 31. You'll get two pieces of fish, baked beans, coleslaw, hushpuppies and dessert for $10, and all proceeds will go to charities in Cherokee County. The church can be found at 2795 Ridge Road.   • Trivia Night: it's video trivia tonight at Soleil Laurel Canyon, 547 Laurel Canyon Parkway. (7 p.m.)
  • Dive In Movie: registration has been extended until today at 6 p.m. for this event. Watch "Moana" on the inflatable screen while you relax in the water. You can bring your own float, but it must have a diameter of 40 inches or less. Everyone must be able to swim, and children in life jackets must be with arm's reach of a parent.   • Sip + Plant - Build Your Own Kokedama: for ages 21 and up, learn how to prepare your plant, the best techniques for transplanting and how to care for your kokedama. All supplies will be provided, and two glasses of wine are included in your ticket for the class at The Mill on Etowah, 225 Reformation Parkway. (6:30 - 8 p.m.)
  • Matt Jackson: the artist is playing live tonight at J. Michael's Prime, 110 Mountain Vista Boulevard. (7 - 9 p.m.)

  • If you love all things active and are looking for a job, Cherokee Recreation & Parks is hiring a full-time Recreation Coordinator. The position will include planning and coordination of outdoor and general recreational programs for all ages, planning and execution of special events, including fishing, archery, kayaking, hiking and other outdoor activities.
