  1. The Canton Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a person captured on camera during a suspected theft on February 11. The person, seen with dark hair and wearing glasses, may have been involved in the theft of a wallet at T.J. Maxx in Canton. The picture of the suspect can be seen at the link. If you have any information, please reach out to Detective Priest with the Canton PD at 770-720-4883. (Canton PD via Facebook)
  2. The River Rock Concert and Festival is back! This year, the family-friendly event will be held on July 21 - 22 at Etowah River Park. The weekend will be filled with local musicians, food and beverage vendors, craft vendors and a kid's area. The headliners on Saturday evening will be country music stars Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Collin Raye. You can read more about the event here, and if you're interested in a sponsorship, please reach out to adam.dodson@cantonga.gov. (City of Canton via Facebook)
  3. Dale Alexander, an employee benefits broker and advisor, speaker and author, will be holding a seminar on financial responsibility for young adults on April 18. The author of "'The Talk' (about money): A Young Adult's Guide To The One Decision That Changes Everything" will be speaking about budgeting techniques, ways to save money, investments and more, and the event is geared towards those in high school, college and in their early career. 4. I love organizations that appreciate the long-term dedication of their employees, and the Cherokee Sheriff's Office celebrated some of their own at the Cherokee County Service Awards on Tuesday. Several employees were recognized for their service, including Tony McMahan for 30 years with the Sheriff's Office, Marianne Kelley and Kevin Busby for 25 years, James Stauf for 20 years and Beth Stringer for 5 years of service. Thank you for all you do, and congratulations! (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  5. It can be one of the worst things in life, having a family pet run off. Searching, posting flyers and calling around to all the shelters and vets in the area can be so stressful. There's one thing you can do, though, to help bring your pet back home faster - microchipping. If an animal runs off and shows up at a rescue, shelter, vet or with the county, rest assured, they will scan for a chip. There's help out there for you and your pets in the Cherokee County Animal Shelter and their microchipping service. For free, county residents can bring their pets over to 1015 Univeter Road or 131 Chattin Drive for a free chip Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. An appointment isn't required, you can just walk right in, but please be sure to have your pet secured on a leash or in a carrier.
