CANTON, GA — As businesses come and go, a local favorite often closes, much to the dismay of the community. Such is the case of R&M Sandwich Shop in Canton.

We asked readers on Facebook which businesses they wished they could bring back, no matter how long they have been closed. More than 120 comments came in as readers shared names of their favorite businesses of years past. From recently closed businesses to those popular years or decades ago, readers shared a variety of businesses.

Some came up time and time again, showing how much the community loved and misses the business. One of the top mentions was R&M Sandwich Shop, which was at 117 West Main Street prior to its closing. The shop was run by Mike DeLuca and his sister Donna after their parents opened the restaurant in 1972. In 2019, the shop went up for sale, and Donna posted on her Facebook page, "it's been a great ride, but I guess it's time to get off." It was bought by new owners, but ultimately closed its doors in 2020.
