  1. Our neighbor city Woodstock had a tornado touch down on Saturday. The storm first hit the northern edge of Dreamcatcher Drive and brought down a few trees. Continuing east, it moved through a wooded area, taking trees down behind homes on Pine Bluff Court, crossed I-575, catching a vehicle and signs in its path. The tornado made its way through mostly wooded areas until hitting the South Cherokee Recreational Complex, taking the roof off of a dugout there. There were no reported injuries, but in light of the close call, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office would like to give us a refresher on what to do in case a tornado comes to our city again. If you have a basement, go to an interior room with no windows. If you do have a basement, bring your emergency supply kit to the area of the basement least exposed on the exterior wall. Please remember, the floors at the top of your house won't protect you, exterior rooms or rooms with windows also leave you vulnerable, and there is nowhere outside that is considered safe during a tornado. 2. Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services was called out to a fire on Hospital Road near Waleska Road on Friday. The residential fire was reported around 10 p.m., and crews arrived to see smoke and flames coming from the sides and front of the home. Nobody was found during the search for people inside the one-story home, and the fire was extinguished. Hospital Road was closed during the firefighting efforts, and traffic was rerouted by the Sheriff's Office. The home was heavily damaged, and the cause of the fire is being investigated. 3. Easter weekend at The Mill on Etowah starts on April 7 with a Good Friday Worship with Local Church followed by karaoke. On Saturday, there are several time slots for the Easter Egg Hunt, the kids are grouped by age, and each group is scheduled for a 15-minute hunt. The first hunt will be for kids up to 3 years old, and it will start at 10 a.m. The last hunt is for kids 13 - 15 years old, and that one starts at 11 a.m. On Sunday at The Mill, take in a Sunrise Service led by Local Church at 7:30 a.m., an Easter Service at 9 a.m. and an Egg Dash at 10:15 a.m. Keep an eye peeled for the Easter Bunny, he'll be around for pictures with the kids. 4. The Mill on Etowah will also be the place for the Plant Daddies Plant-A-Palooza Scavenger Hunt this Saturday. From noon - 5 p.m., your friends, family and you can search The Cotton Mill Exchange for something to grow a plant in, the zanier the better.
