Use SafeSchools Alert To Report Cherokee School Safety Concerns

Public safety authorities are asking student to use the system to report harassment, threats, bullying, drug and alcohol use and more.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — The Chief of the Cherokee County School District Police Department released a video on Wednesday outlining the system's use of SafeSchools Alert.

Chief Buster Cushing said in the video the district's system uses SafeSchools Alert to report school safety concerns by text, email, phone calls, online messages or an app.

Cushing reminded viewers "if you see something, say something."

The video cuts to students giving examples of situations which can be reported through SafeSchools Alert.

  • "I'm being harassed by a boy at school and I don't know who to tell."
  • "I'm being bullied by one of my classmates here at school."
  • "I heard a rumor about a threat to our school."
  • "I'm worried my friend my hurt herself"

The anonymous system allows students to report harassment, bullying, drug and alcohol use, vaping, vandalism, threats and any other school safety concerns. The tips will go to school police and administrators.

The system does not replace a 911 call.
