Walmart Theft Suspects Who Led Police On Chase Still At Large

The two men allegedly led Holly Springs police on a chase early Monday before crashing their stolen van on I-75 in Cobb County.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA — Holly Springs police is asking the public to help them track down the two men accused of stealing TVs from Walmart and leading police on a chase before they crashed a stolen van early Monday in Cobb County.

Detective Greg Bettis said investigators "have developed and are investigating several leads" in the case.

The pair allegedly entered Walmart at 2200 Holly Springs Parkway just after 1 a.m. Dec. 11. Store cameras show the men removing four large-screen televisions from the store and placing them into a white van, Holly Springs police said.

Several minutes later, a Holly Springs officer attempted to pull over the van for a traffic violation on the southbound side of Interstate 575. However, the driver of the Ford Econoline van refused to pull over, and continued to flee southbound through Woodstock and into Cobb County.

Officers were able to perform a PIT maneuver near the I-575/I-75 merge in Cobb County, which brought the police chase to an end. One Holly Springs police vehicle and the van, which was reported stolen from the DeKalb County Community Service Board, crashed into the median wall, with the van catching fire. One officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
