Youth Suicide Prevention Summit On Nov. 5 In Canton

The GBI and the Cherokee County School District will co-host the summit at the Cherokee County Conference Center.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County School District will team up with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation next week to host a summit on youth suicide prevention.

The Cherokee County Youth Suicide Prevention Summit, which is open to the public, is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at the Cherokee County Conference Center at 1130 Bluffs Parkway in Canton.

According to the GBI, 144 youth have taken their own lives in Georgia in the past three years. For every young person who dies by suicide, national statistics indicate 25 others will have attempted to take their own lives. That means approximately 3,600 other children have attempted suicide during the same time.
