• County BOE holds board advance (times-georgian.com) — Carroll County residents should know the school board just updated its 10-year master plan and slightly increased the district’s amended budget to $205.4 million in spending. Board members also canceled next Monday’s meeting to attend Bowdon’s state title game and scheduled their next public meeting for Jan. 15 at the Performing Arts Center on Old Newnan Road in Carrollton.
   

• UWG Students Compete for over $2,500 in Prizes at Inaugural Mars Expo (gradickcommunications.com) — University of West Georgia students from the Carrollton and Newnan campuses teamed up this fall to design fictional Mars colonies, competing for more than $2,500 in prizes at the inaugural Mars Expo. The interdisciplinary project, backed by Yamaha and NASA’s Georgia Space Grant Consortium, pushed first-year students to tackle real-world issues like governance, sustainability, and mental health while networking with local professionals.
   

• Kennesaw State graduate builds a future few expected (cobbcountycourier.com) — A recent Kennesaw State construction management graduate is about to start work as a project engineer with RaLin Construction in Carrollton, bringing fresh talent and determination to the local building industry. Her journey from full-time worker and mom to first-generation college graduate highlights how persistence and community support can open doors. She also hopes to mentor other women entering construction.
