2 Shot To Death At Columbus State

The county coroner told a media outlet the Columbus State University shooting was an apparent homicide-suicide.

COLUMBUS, GA — A male and female were found dead Friday in an apparent homicide-suicide at Columbus State University, Atlanta News First reported.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan told the outlet the male seemingly shot the female to death before shooting himself.

University officials posted on Facebook that they were notified of a gun-related incident on Columbus' main campus, near the Lenoir Annex. Officials did not detail the nature of the incident.

"At this time, the threat has been contained and defined as an isolated event," university officials said.

Columbus State University Police are investigating the case along with the Columbus Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

During its 3:30 p.m. update, CSU confirmed there was no continuing threat on the campus.
