  1. Columbus police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at Rice Street in South Columbus on Thursday night, Jun. 15. According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, 22-year-old Deyon Wademan was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:59 p.m. Wademan's body will undergo an autopsy. (WRBL)
  2. Daqavius Anthony, 17, was sentenced to 26 years in prison after he plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, using a gun to commit a felony, and being a minor with a handgun. Anthony was 16 years old when he fatally shot 44-year-old Jerry Walton Jr., which caused Walton’s pickup to crash into a Columbus apartment building and started a fire. (Ledger-Enquirer)
  3. In observance of Juneteenth, all public services will be suspended or altered on Monday, Jun. 19. There will be no Metra Bus Service and no garbage pickup. Emergency services such as fire, police, and ambulance will operate normally. (WTVM 9)

  • On Jun. 15, a Muscogee County deputy was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Manchester Expressway near Peachtree Mall. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. (WTVM 9)
  • In observance of Juneteenth, Muscogee County schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Jun. 19, including the Summer Learning Experience and Summer Camps. (MCSD via Twitter)
