The Muscogee County Sheriff's Office and the Communication Workers of America Local 3212 proudly handed over a check of $21,500 to the Georgia Sheriff Youth Homes as a result of their highly successful 2023 Charity Golf Tournament. This remarkable donation sets a new record for both organizations, showcasing the incredible efforts of volunteers and generous contributors. With this achievement, both organizations eagerly anticipate the next year's tournament and the positive impact it will bring. (Sheriff Greg Countryman via Facebook)
  3. A building fire in Phenix City near the intersection of 12th Avenue and 13th Street was extinguished by crews on Jun. 28. The old food pantry building was the site of the incident, but fortunately, there were no injuries reported as nobody was inside at the time. Firefighters battled the blaze amid high temperatures and fatigue, taking breaks to recover, while the owner, who used the building for storage, expressed hope for community support as she did for others when it served as a food pantry. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. (WTVM)
