  1. After the Shirley B. Winston Park shooting in May, parents are pulling children out of the park’s T-Ball, baseball, and softball leagues. The junior-senior softball team was unable to attend a recent tournament due to players dropping out. Since the event, visitors at the Columbus park have noticed an increase in patrol cars and are hoping additional security measures will continue the support of the local sports teams. (Ledger-Enquirer)
  2. It’s not October yet, but on Jul. 15, you can enjoy an educational tour of the Historic Linwood Cemetery in Columbus. Linwood Cemetery was the very first cemetery in Columbus, opening in 1828, and is full of rich history and beauty. The Atlanta Preservation Center is hosting the tour, which is two hours in duration. Tickets are required and can be purchased here. (Eventbrite)
