11-Year-Old Boy Facing Charges For Bringing Gun To School

Hall County Sheriff's deputies arrested an 11-year-old boy Friday morning after officials found a small caliber handgun in his book bag.

HALL COUNTY, GA — Hall County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 11-year-old boy Friday morning, Nov. 9, after officials found a small caliber handgun in his book bag at East Hall Middle School.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., administrators were notified by a fellow student that the 11-year-old
sixth-grader had a weapon at school.

School officials and the school resource officer immediately detained the boy, retrieved the bag from his locker, discovered the loaded handgun in it and seized it. Administrators placed the school on lockdown during the situation. The lockdown was lifted at 11:30 a.m.

The preliminary investigation found no indication the boy made any threats in connection with the weapon.

The juvenile remained in custody Friday afternoon, and charges are pending in the case.

The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations
Division.
