  1. Forsyth County commissioners have approved plans for a 70,000-square-foot Hindu temple off Peachtree Parkway after reaching a compromise with concerned neighbors. The Shri Krishna Vrundavana temple, located on a six-acre site at Peachtree Parkway and South Clement Road, had initially faced criticism from residents citing noise and traffic concerns. The approved plans include conditions to mitigate noise, limit fireworks to specific occasions, and incorporate green space, bridges, and parking spaces for the community-focused temple project. The facility, funded mainly through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax VIII revenue, state grants, and impact fees, is set to feature 75,000 books and materials, study rooms, and sections for adults, children, and teens. The library, expected to finish construction by late 2024 or early 2025, aims to serve as a valuable resource for residents, including students, and is part of the county's library system expansion.
