  1. In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Forsyth County is celebrating the vital work of 911 dispatchers, who often go unseen but not unappreciated. The community is encouraged to consider writing a thank-you note or sponsoring a meal, gift basket, or gift card for 911 Dispatcher Appreciation Week. If you're interested in participating, you can contact E-911 Operations Manager Jill Spence at ajspence@forsythco.com or drop off any goods at the Public Safety Complex on 3520 Settingdown Rd.   2. Forsyth County Public Library is presenting "Touch a Truck" today (Friday, Apr. 7) from 1:15-3:00 p.m. at Fowler Park. The event will feature amazing trucks and community helpers from Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Fire Department, Georgia Army National Guard, and more. This free community event appeals to kids of all ages and will be held rain or shine at the park's big pavilion, with easy access to parking, restrooms, and the playground.   3. Forsyth County Senior Services is hosting its 19th annual Aging Well Expo on Thursday, Apr. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College. This free event is an opportunity for active and senior adults, their families, friends, and caregivers to learn about local businesses and service providers that meet their needs. With over 70 vendors from senior residential communities, legal services, recreational opportunities, home care, and more, attendees can also access free health screenings, refreshments, and giveaways. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office held its annual awards banquet at the Forsyth Conference Center last Friday evening, where Sheriff Freeman and other Command Staff members recognized several employees for their commendable efforts. The awards presented included Commendation Awards, a Medal of Merit, and Life-Saving awards. Cumming-based Beaver Toyota donated gifts for each Bureau and Sheriff's award recipient, making it a fantastic evening of recognition, dinner, and giveaways.
